The 8th Instruction and First Instance Court of Figueres (Girona) in service has opened an investigation into the death of a 3-year-old child treated at the Figueres hospital.
According to El Punt, the girl’s death occurred two days after she went to a health center in Roses for stomach pains, which sent her home because it was not serious.
As reported by the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) in a statement, the parents reported on Wednesday the death of their daughter in hospital the previous night, facts of which the court was not aware because it was not a judicial death.
Upon receipt of the complaint, the judge agreed to open proceedings and request clinical information, and ordered an autopsy this Thursday. Preliminary proceedings are not currently directed against any person or entity. The court is awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine the causes of death.
Sources from the Girona Health Region CatSalut explained to Europa Press that they were aware of the complaint and had been following the case since the death.
CatSalut is awaiting the results of the autopsy, has made itself available to the courts and added that the case is currently under investigation.
