The Civil Guard caught the person under investigation in the act after being alerted by farmers in the town of Albatera
The Civil Guard, in collaboration with the Local Police of the city of Alicante Albaterathey are investigating a man of Moroccan nationality with a history of theft, accused of stealing around 200 kilos of tomatoes for later sale in the town, as reported by the Armed Institute in a press release. During the course of the investigations, the agents returned approximately 75 kilos of this vegetable to its rightful owners.
The police procedure was sent to the Court of First Instance and Investigation of the Alicante Municipality of Orihuela take charge of the investigation of the case. The events began in August, when an individual was observed stealing tomatoes from various agricultural properties from Albatera, to then sell them as street vendors. He would have offered the products to motorists at the traffic lights in this town.
Faced with the concern of the farmers and the neighborhood, the Rock Team of the Torrevieja company, the main station of Dolores and the local police of Albatera jointly opened a police investigation. After several days of intensified surveillance and control, the alleged perpetrator was identified, a 43-year-old man of Moroccan nationality, with background for similar crimes.
