Two vehicles set on fire in a few weeks belonging to people linked to the municipality of Aspe. This is the situation that exists in the city of Alicante after the car of the security councilor, José Vicente Pérez, caught fire last Monday, a few weeks after the same thing happened to the van of the mayor, Antonio Puerto.
It was the mayor himself who woke up around 4:45 in the morning because of strange noises and, while he was looking out of the balcony of his house, he saw that his car was on fire. The mayor then managed to put out the fire and alerted the police.
In a statement by the EUPV, the formation to which the two councilors belong, the coordinator Rosa Pérez, stated that “it will not tolerate persecution, threats or coercion against its public agents to fulfill their obligations and guarantee the general interest of citizenship.” In this context, “an exhaustive investigation of the facts and the determination of the appropriate responsibilities” were demanded.
These threats and attacks were reported by the mayor to the Civil Guard, with Pérez himself highlighting the possible link between the attacks and the operation that dismantled a cockfighting organization, one of the most important in Spain, at the beginning of the year.
