The prosecution requests 12 years in prison for a resident of A Estrada (Pontevedra) who in 2023 He tried to kill his partner by setting her on fire. The case, which emanates from the Court of Instruction No. 1 of A Estrada, will be judged next Tuesday, November 12, at 11:30 a.m., in the second section of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra.
According to the prosecution in its qualification document, at the time of the facts the couple maintained a relationship for over 12 yearsliving in a house in A Estrada, owned by the accused. However, by the end of their relationship, he was already sleeping in separate bedrooms.
During this last period, they emphasize, the man showed “exaggerated and irrational jealousy” towards the woman.constantly demeaning and humiliating her with insults, shouts and verbal outbursts of violence. »
Thus, around 12:10 a.m. on September 23, 2023, the accused, who knew that his then partner was in her room located on the upper floor of the house, went upstairs armed with a bottle of gasoline, which he began to pour in front of the bedroom door, shouting at her that he was “going to kill her” and that they would “die together”. The defendant did the same on the interior stairs of the building until reaching the lower floor.
When the woman tried to run away, the accused grabbed her arm and punched her on the left side of the face. Again, the victim managed to escape and I went out. During this time, the man set fire to the first floor of the interior staircase, although the fire self-extinguished due to the small amount of fuel spilled at that time. The same day, the victim filed a complaint regarding these events.
Pursuant to an order dated September 23, 2023 issued by the Court of First Instance and Instruction number two of A Estrada, the temporary prisoncommunicated and without bail from the accused, said precautionary measure being ratified by another order of October 2, 2023 issued by the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 1 of A Estrada.
