They demand a permanent and reviewable prison for the mother and uncle of the baby thrown in a container in Mallorca

The prosecution is requesting a permanent and reviewable prison sentence for the mother and uncle of the baby thrown into a container in Porto Cristo in November 2023. The prosecutor considers that the girl was born alive in a car and that the accused threw her into the container to get rid of her, for which he accuses them of murder with the aggravating circumstance of kinship for the mother.

It was last November 2nd when a premature baby was thrown into a trash can in the Majorcan town of Manacor, more precisely in the tourist center of Porto Cristo.

The tragic incident occurred around 6 p.m. A woman observed a man get out of a vehicle and stand in front of a container with a package inside, which he threw inside. As she got out of the car, the woman discovered that she had thrown out a baby who, at the time, was still alive and crying.

According to witnesses, in the vehicle from which the man got out to throw the baby into the container, there was a woman crying, the mother.

The Scientific and Homicide Police of the National Police took charge of the investigation and the rapid resolution of the case was possible thanks to citizen collaboration and the excellent coordination and collaboration between the National Police and the Local Police of Manacor.

Several patrols from both forces immediately arrived at the scene and while one transported the newborn to the hospital, other patrols cordoned off the area, protecting the scene from discovery and identifying witnesses, thus collecting initial data.

After an intense and rapid investigation, the case was solved in just 48 hours. To do this, the images from the security cameras in the area were analyzed and the Scientific Police carried out a thorough analysis of the baby’s clothes and the blanket that wrapped him.

The mother, who was pregnant with a female fetus at approximately 26 or 27 weeks, went into labor inside a vehicle. At the wheel were her brother-in-law and his business partner.

Both knew that the baby was alive and decided to leave him in a container anyway. The mother handed the baby over to the man and he threw him in the dump on Aterratge Street. After that, they fled the scene.

The newborn suffered a multifactorial cardiorespiratory arrest, due to the lack of care during delivery, as well as a moderate perimortal head trauma due to falling to the ground after expulsion of the maternal breast or to the impact of the container.
