They demand the arrest of the former president, who was released from the courtroom

Appeals against the sentence were filed against the former director of the stadium Alik Hasanov and the former president of the Association of Sports Organizations of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan Nadir Aliyev, who were found guilty of trying to sell the “Mahsul” stadium.

According to “Qafqazinfo”, the victims of the case are unhappy with the sentence.

This case was investigated by a panel of judges chaired by Farid Namazov at the Baku Serious Crimes Court. Both defendants were found guilty of large-scale fraud. Although article 62 of the Penal Code (which imposes a sentence below the penalty limit) was applied to both, article 70 of the same code (suspended sentence) was applied only to Nadir Aliyev. According to the sentence, Alik Hasanov was sentenced to 7 years in prison, with the condition that he serve his sentence under a strict regime. Nadir Aliyev was released directly from the courtroom.

The victims do not agree with the verdict. They do not consider it legal to impose a light sentence on the accused if damages are not paid. Therefore, each of them filed a separate appeal. The complaints call for Alik Hasanov’s sentence to be increased, for Nadir Aliyev to be arrested, and for his property to be sold and damages to be paid.

The prosecutor did not file an appeal against the sentence.

The complaints will be heard at the Baku Court of Appeal, chaired by newly appointed judge Ali Mammadov.

According to the indictment, Nadir Aliyev and Alik Hasanov promised to sell the territory of the “Mahsul” stadium and agreed with businessmen for the amount of 5 million 500 thousand manats. Although the sale was not completed, the defendants received 900,000 manats from businessmen on behalf of beh. 5 people were recognized as victims of the case.

N. Aliyev and A. Hasanov were charged with articles 178.4 (fraud with especially significant damage) and 32.4, 312.1 (incitement to bribery) and 32.4, 312.2 (repeated incitement to bribery) of the Criminal Code.
