During his interrogations, Judge Peinado does not cut himself. If any of the witnesses summoned during the investigation into the case Begoña Gómez case does not respond to what I expected, he leaves sentences like this: “Let’s see, I don’t know if you have noticed any signs of oligophrenia. at one of the people present in this room.”
laSexta has accessed the audio recordings of the statements in the case, in which the magistrate can be heard questioning, among others, the CEO of the Barrabés Group, with whom he is particularly harsh for having used the expression “all of a sudden” to refer to the way in which the processes were accelerated due to the pandemic.
“Suddenly… This ‘all of a sudden’… What do you mean by this expression, word or phrase? “The things I ask you do not happen suddenly, they happen because of something,” says Peinado. We had already seen it with Begoña Gómez’s lawyer, with Peinado who wants the voice of the president’s wife to be heard. No, however, his tone is not inferior with the rest of the witnesses, as in the following exchange with Marc Simón’s defense lawyer.
Lawyer – “Do you remember if a framework agreement was signed with Complutense in March 2007?”
Marc-Simon – “I think there already were some.”
Judge’s Hairstyle – “They didn’t ask him about his beliefs.”
Another example: Barrabés says that when he was hired the master’s degree had already been created, but he uses the expression “when I arrived.”And where did it come to? Why did it come? “Whose request did he come for? What did you do when you arrived? Where did he go?” he asks insistently.
And if you don’t like the answers, keep insisting: “Remember, you are under oath.. Remember that you are under oath.” But beyond the answers, the conflict can be a gesture of the public prosecutor.
“Whether or not you agree with the questions asked by the colleague, the investigator’s answers must provoke hilarity, giving rise to sarcastic smiles as he does, I ask you to refrain from making a gesture to me in this sense.” This is the reaction of a Peinado judge to any gesture, question or answer that does not suit him.
