The Civil Guard arrested a international fugitive of Belgian nationality and aged 35, in the San Antonio service area, on the AP-7 highway, belonging to the municipality of Pedreguer (Alicante). The action led to the arrest of an individual wanted by the Belgian authorities, accused of having imported more than a ton of cocaine and illegal possession of firearms.
On September 16, during one of the citizen security measures carried out by agents of the armed institute, they detected the presence of a vehicle which aroused their suspicions.
Investigators checked irregularities in the documentation and detected that it was a falsificationthey then began searching for the real identity and eventually discovered that he was a 35-year-old Belgian man with an outstanding arrest warrant.
The fugitive, accused by Belgian authorities of having imported more than a ton of cocaine and illegal possession of weapons, considered a target of high value by Interpol and with an arrest warrant in force since the end of 2022, he has since been using false papers, in this case a Belgian identity card and driving license, which made his location difficult.
Finally, on September 17, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the Central Investigating Court number two of the National Court. The judicial authority ordered his admission to prison without bail, pending his extradition in Belgium.
