They evacuate the Plaza de Callao following a false warning of armed men who were going to rob a shopping center

National Police officers evacuated the Callao Square from the city of Madrid for a false report of the presence of armed men inside a shopping center, according to police sources.

From the General Directorate of the National Police, they inform Madrid Total that the events took place this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The police had received a call alerting them to the presence of two armed men that they were going to break into El Corte Inglés in Callao to steal.

Immediately afterwards, the agents proceeded to expel the people who were in the central square of the capital and its surroundings. According to several witnesses on their social networks, the agents burst into Callao shouting “Everyone out!” The police force was deployed in Plaza de Callao and Preciados Streetbut the situation is already under control.

However, sources from the Higher General Staff confirmed that the the alert was false. Security forces searched two people who were inside the mall, but found no weapons. There are no detainees and Callao is now able to circulate normally.
