The Tedax of the Civil Guard and the National Police intervened picric acidan explosive more powerful and unstable than dynamite, in several public institutes in the Community of Madrid and in educational centers in the province of Palencia.
Picric acid (2, 4, 6-trinitophenol) was used in the laboratories of educational centers throughout the country, as it was part of the supply provided in the 90s. However, there is one circumstance that, with the weather, becomes more unstable, increasing its risk of explosionespecially when stirred or heated.
It is for this reason that agents specialized in deactivating explosive devices went to the educational centers of Guardo, Saldaña and sale of bathrooms (Palencia)from which a total of 125 grams of this compound were taken. Each time, it was destroyed by controlled fire in safe areas, as the Armed Institute explains in a press release sent to Europa Press.
Communication and intervention in Madrid This comes shortly after a similar incident in Galicia in October, where Civil Guard agents intervened with picric acid in several educational centers. On this occasion, the authorities launched a public appeal to all institutes to check their laboratories and notified their presence via an email activated for this purpose.
The Ministry of Education will send a communication to all secondary education establishments check their laboratories and, if they locate this substance, notify the authorities so that they can remove it
