Late in the afternoon, the bodies of two people were found near Letur. The discoveries are part of the search for the six people missing on October 29, during a flood that devastated the town of Letur in Albacete, during a meteorological episode carried out by a DANA throughout the southeast of the peninsula.
This was announced by the delegate of the government of Castile-La Mancha in Albacete, Pedro Antonio Ruiz Santos, who however clarified that they had not yet been able to be identified. They were very close to where the body of Antonia, another missing person, was located, about 12 kilometers from the city. All the families have already been interviewed and the delegate highlighted the “hard” moment during the appearance before the media.
The research phase will not yet be over, at least until the identity of the six people is confirmed. Work is still underway to determine the identity of three of the bodies found.
A few hours earlier, Ruiz Santos had also confirmed that the fourth body found Tuesday afternoon at the mouth of the Letur stream in the Segura river corresponds to Jonathan, a young man who disappeared with his partner Mónica on October 29. avalanche of water which, in three waves, devastated the old town of Albacete.
That day, six people disappeared. On October 30, the device located the body of Dolores, a 92-year-old woman, near the municipality’s wastewater treatment plant, a kilometer and a half away. We had to wait until Sunday, November 3 to find Antonia, a woman of around 70 years old. His body was located 12 kilometers from Letur.
This week, two more bodies were located and identified. Even today, thanks to DNA testing, I confirmed Jonathan’s identity and there is another whose identity is unknown. With the last two discoveries this afternoon, the search would be over if it was finally confirmed that these were indeed the missing people.
That day, in the town of Mira, Cuenca, an 88-year-old woman also died due to flooding.
