They lose it, and the painter finds himself without a price and without a work.

The hyperrealist painter from Cadiz Fernando Devesa has experienced a true artistic and personal drama after the disappearance of one of his most important works, “San Juan de Dios Square”which had been selected as a finalist in the International Competition Ciudad de Hellín, in Albacete. The large work measures two meters long and one meter twenty high, not including the packaging, and was sent by a transport company to participate in the exhibition-competition.

“He left here on the 3rd and on the 4th he arrived at the logistics in Madrid…”, commented Devesa, visibly moved. Since then, the trace of the painting has been lostand neither the shipping company nor the competition authorities were able to locate the work. The organizing museum contacted the artist to ask why he had not sent the painting, which left Devesa “frozen,” since he had shipped it ten days earlier.

Despite obtaining an extension to be able to present the work after the deadline, the painting never arrivedso the painter not only lost the opportunity to compete for the 6,000 euro prize, but he also found himself without his work, valued at around 8,000 euros.

“Someone must have dropped it, it must have broken or something…” Devesa mused, helpless in the face of the transport company’s lack of response. Despite his attempts to contact him, has not yet received an explanation.
