The trial of the criminal case of Eldar Shahgaldiyev, accused of legalizing property obtained through crime, took place.
APA reports that prosecutor Rauf Malyshov delivered an indictment speech today in the trial presided over by Judge Rasim Sadikhov at the Baku Serious Crimes Court.
He requested that the defendant be sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison.
Subsequently, the accused spoke his last words. He stated that he is 67 years old and suffers from various illnesses and asked the judge to give him the lightest sentence.
He said the damage was fully paid for by his son.
According to the court ruling, Eldar Shahgaldiyev was sentenced to 9 years in prison.
It should be noted that E. Shahgaldiyev was charged under article 193-1.3.2 of the Criminal Code (legalization of a large amount of property obtained by crime). The victim of the case was recognized as the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
It should be recalled that in 2020, Eldar Shahgaldiyev, previously convicted, was detained as a member of an organized group that carried out financial transactions with falsified documents as a result of measures taken by employees of the Main Department against Organized Crime of the Ministry. of Internal Affairs.
He had previously been sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison by decision of the Narimanov District Court.
