The president of the aforementioned municipality, Pablo Bottero, asked the first mayor, by email, to name this pedestrian crossing “Solidarity Bridge”.
“After the devastating DANA which have marked our city, this bridge has become a symbol of unity and collective effort. Many young people crossed this bridge to help the communities of Sedaví, Alfafar, Paiporta, Picanya, Albal and Catarroja, bringing food, water, tools and Collaborate in cleaning and reconstruction work“explains Bottero in his proposal.
Likewise, he considered that “the designation of this bridge as a ‘Solidarity Bridge’ would not only honor the memory of the victims, but would also highlight the commitment and active participation of young people in the reconstruction” of the city. “This gesture would serve as a reminder permanent importance of solidarity and intergenerational collaboration“, he added.
Thus, the government team of the Valencian capital will take the appropriate steps to proceed in the name of the pedestrian crossing.
“I received the request from the president of the Youth Council to give it a name at the San Marcelino bridge, the name “Solidarity Bridge”. And I think it was a great initiative” because “it responds very well” to the one who “launched the proposal”, a group of young people, and “to what this bridge represents”, said María José Catalá.
“The Iron Generation”
The municipal official assured that “represents the strength of young people“. “This represents this generation that became the iron generation. And it is for this reason that the Board of Directors accepted this suggestion from the Youth Council. »
“We clearly state that we are still in a very critical situation.“, that we still go out and try to get back up, but we clearly show that this bridge will remain in history as well as the commitment and the strength shown by the young people of the city of Valencia”, added the first mayor .
