Firefighters from the Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium rescued a one-year-old baby and his mother this Wednesday with a helicopter in an isolated house in the Valencian municipality of Riola, in Ribera Baixa.
In total, the Consortium’s troops rescued 20 people in danger or isolated, after carrying out four reconnaissance flights in the Albufera area and in municipalities such as Paiporta or Torrent, the Consortium reported in a press release.
These rescues are in addition to other actions carried out by Alicante troops in areas affected by the rain and wind storm in the province of Valencia, where they have been since Wednesday morning to reinforce relief efforts.
Concretely, this Wednesday they mobilized four heavy rural pumps (BRP) and 12 firefighters from the parks of Dénia, Benidorm, Cocentaina and Elda, as well as an Alpha 01 helicopter and a rescue group.
This Thursday at 6 a.m., the Consortium’s search and rescue canine unit left for Valencia. Likewise, the firefighters explained that the incorporation of the rescue helicopter is not planned, but is waiting in case it is necessary to add it to these tasks.
