The company Jamones Eíriz, located in Corteconcepción (Huelva), reported to the Civil Guard the theft, in the early hours of Wednesday, November 13, of 400 hams ““100% Iberian” of Jabugo and 500 loins of bellota, also “one hundred percent Iberian”.
“They accessed the facilities by cutting the fence and went to the other room,” explained Domingo Eíriz, spokesperson for Jamones Eíriz. To do this, they passed through the shoulders of the tassels. “They were targeting the hams” pointed out.
In total, they took 400 Jabugo hams and 500 acorn loins. All valued at around 200,000 euros. “For a small company like ours, it is capital,” recognized Domingo Eíriz, emphasizing that This is “long-term” work.
Apparently the thieves had a very calculated theft and had inside information, and the place where these hams were found was usually not the usual place. “This is not a place where we normally have this product. It was uploaded here specifically for labeling,” the company spokesperson said.
In this way, it seems that the thieves knew this information, dwhere they came from and what product they should take.
A situation similar to that which occurred less than a month ago in Córdoba, where thieves took away 44 hams. It is for this reason that the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) asks consumers to take extreme precautions when making their purchases.
“They should be wary of abnormally low prices and buy from reliable channels,” said José Carlos Cutiño, OCU spokesperson.
For now, agents continue the investigation the case to try to locate the thieves.
