It is worth remembering that the DANA a few weeks ago struck with a special force in the province of Malaga and, more specifically, in the Guadalhorce Valley. In fact, the highest accumulated precipitation was recorded precisely at the Azud de Paredones meteorological station, located in the municipality of Álora. There they accumulated around 160 liters per square meter collected in twelve hours.
In addition, DANA left this municipality without electricity for several days and on days of heavy rain, many residents were trapped and had to be evacuated by law enforcement. emergency services. Many also waited several days at home, cut off from all communication, the roads being impassable due to mud and tree branches.
According to data from the Hidrosur network, in the case of the Encantada canal rain gauge, also in Álora, more than 127 liters per square meter. Municipalities like Álora, Cártama, Ardales or Tolox have already recorded more precipitation after this episode than during the entire hydrological year preceding the complete one (i.e. between October 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024). In addition, seven rainfall stations in these localities exceed their total from the previous period by a little more than a month.
