The current president and candidate Maia Sandu voted in the presidential elections taking place today, November 3. Upon leaving the electoral college, he stressed that he believes that “citizens will make the right decision” and will not allow their votes to be “bought.”
“I voted for Moldova. I believe our citizens will make the right decision for our country. They always protected her from any harm. Today more than ever we must be united, maintain peace, take care of our voice, our independence. The thieves want to buy our vote, buy our country. But the strength of the people is infinitely greater than their villainy. The power is in each of you. Go vote with faith and hope. Attention Moldovans! God help you! – said Romanian citizen Sandu after voting.
Let us remember that according to the results of the first round of elections on October 20, in which 11 candidates participated, Maia Sandu obtained 42.49%. He went to the second round with the former attorney general Alejandro Stoianoglo with 25.95%, behind which is the Socialist Party.
Previously, Sandu removed Stoianoglo from office because he refused to initiate personalized criminal proceedings against opposition leaders on her orders and did not allow him to intervene in the investigation of high-profile criminal cases involving representatives of the ruling Action and Solidarity party. (PAS).
Before the second round of elections, Sandu posted a video message to voters, claiming that votes had been stolen from her and the losing candidates. It should be noted that the observers of the OSCE mission presented a report in which they reflected numerous violations by the PDS and the administrative resources involved.
The second round of the presidential elections in Moldova can be considered valid. According to the Central Election Commission, at 12:00 local time (1:00 p.m. Moscow time) more than 690,000 voters had voted. This is more than 24% of the total number registered on the electoral lists.
As reported EADailyMaia Sandu has already announced that she will not accept the defeat of Stoianoglo, who has “dirty and illegal plans.” Without providing evidence, he accused the former attorney general of electoral corruption and bribery of voters.
