Autumn hasn’t really arrived yet and I’ve already gone into nostalgia mode. Today, walking streets I haven’t walked in a long time, those of a city where I spent many summers of my childhood, I indulged in one of my favorite pastimes, what I call “chasing shadows” and it consists of looking at things from the current point of view and at the same time from the point of view of ten, twenty, thirty years ago… sometimes more, as if I were wearing a kind of bifocal chronoglasses.
We all know that things change, that the world we live in today is not the one we lived in when we were young – no matter how old we are, it happens to the very young too – but the changes happen so insidiously, so imperceptibly, that we only realize it when it happened a long time ago.
