The National Police dismantled a network of ‘narcodrones‘ which operated between Spain and Morocco. Hashish was brought to our country using unmanned aircraft, manufactured in Ukraine, and then transported by road to southern Spain, where drug shipments were proposed and agreed with local criminal organizations.
The police operation ends with a dozendetainedseven of whom have already entered prison. In addition, the agents practiced six recordings in Algeciras and Marbella, as part of an investigation which benefited from the collaboration of Europol and the police authorities of Ukraine and Poland.
The investigation dates back more than a year ago, when police learned that a criminal organization based in Campo de Gibraltar and the Costa del Sol was introducing significant quantities of hashish by plane.
To do this, drug traffickers used handmade drones large size with capacity to carry approximately 10 kilos of hashish on each flight and a range of more than 50 kilometers. This allowed them to travel the route between Morocco and Spain, flying over the waters of the strait and returning after dropping the drugs on Spanish soil without having to land.
Generally, these drones were made in Ukraine and transported by road to the south of Spain, where they entered service, operated by people from Eastern European countries. These people entered into agreements with local criminal organizations to make this “service” available to them. air transport of narcotics. Using this method, an organization allegedly tried to send up to 1,000 kilos of hashish.
After establishing the corresponding operation, the agents carried out six house searches in Algeciras and Marbella and arrested nine people as suspected perpetrators of drug trafficking and criminal organization crimes. During the investigation, they were three planes intervenedone of them in the construction phase, as well as remote control devices, repair tools and large sums of cash and narcotics allegedly brought into Spain by this method.
The detainees were placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction number 5 of Algeciras, which ordered the incarceration of seven of them.
