The judge Juan Carlos Peinado accused Begoña Gómez of misappropriation of commercial software developed for the Complutense University of Madrid. Gómez offered this tool through a website registered in his name. THE wife of Pedro Sánchez He worked hard to obtain this platform from Complutense, currently under legal investigation. In fact, the implementation of this software has always been Gómez’s number one goal in creating his competitive social transformation chairnow cancelled. This is demonstrated by the documentation to which OKDIARIO had access. More precisely, the file prepared by the wife of the President of the Government to present her project to the Complutense. This is a document in power point prepared by Gómez herself and dated October 6, 2020, i.e. 24 days before that Complutense signed the agreement with Reale Seguros and La Caixa to create the chair and appoint Gómez as director.
“The first Spanish platform”
Among the objectives of the presidency, the wife of the President of the Government pays particular attention to what she calls “impact measurement”emphasizing that “measurement is essential not only for the smooth running of the activity and monitoring the impact, but it also provides very valuable information, which will then be used to obtain investments and as part of communications and marketing strategy. Because, according to Begoña Gómez: “What is not said does not happen”.
The wife of the socialist president thus explained to Complutense that “there are currently different methodologies, mainly developments in other countries whose measurements are not adapted to Spanish metrics and that in many cases they remain in guides on how to develop measurement and very oriented towards large companies or on how to measure activities and not results or their maximization.
It is for this reason that he declared: “It is at this stage that we would like the presidency to have a specific role, since it would be the first digital impact measurement platform of Spanish origin with metrics based on our social needs and of investment as a country“. An allusion to made in Spain with which Gómez intended to capture the interest of the public university.
Finally, on October 30, 2020, Complutense created the Begoña Gómez chair. But the documentation reveals that the president’s wife had already planned it well before. Already in his statement before Judge Peinado, rector Joaquín Goyache – also accused – had revealed that in July of the same year was summoned personally by Gómez in La Moncloa to discuss this topic. A few months later, the chair became a reality.
The appointment of Begoña Gómez as director also forced Complutense to appoint a co-director, a teacher with a working relationship with her, in order not to violate the regulations. The wife of the socialist leader, it should be noted, lacks official qualifications, unlike the rest of the directors of extraordinary chairs, the vast majority of whom are doctors and professors.
Businesses
Gómez brought together several leading companies – Indra, Telefónica and Google – in the design of this platform, with which he wanted companies to be able to measure compliance with the objectives of the so-called 2030 Agenda, such as revealed this newspaper. He also wanted to publish reports so that companies are in better conditions to apply for public contracts. Currently, the website that hosted this platform, registered in Gómez’s name, has been deleted.
Ultimately, Sánchez’s wife had to resort to financing from Complutense to try to carry out the project, for which she promoted several contracts. Among them, one of 60,500 euros, attributed to Deloitte, and which is now part of the investigation. As this newspaper also published, Gómez boasted to Complutense that several companies would make the platform free for him.
Accused of influence peddling and corruption in the business world, Gómez added two new accusations this Tuesday. For embezzlement and trespass. Judge Juan Carlos Peinado summoned her to testify on November 18. During the two previous appearances, Sánchez’s wife had refused to testify.
