The mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido, inaugurated this Wednesday the Innovation and urban heritage; one of the parallel activities of the XVII World Congress of the Organization of Heritage Cities, during which the initiative of the digital twin of Córdoba was presented, an initiative developed by the delegations of the Historic Center and Digital modernization.
Bellido highlighted the importance of this tool and its possible applications in the Casco environment, indicating that “the digital twin of the historic center will contribute to optimizing decisions future proposals for urban improvement projects.
In addition, information will be available “on the fundamental management for the future of the Casco that has to do with the conservation buildings, mobility or security.
Regarding the possible uses of the digital twin, Bellido stressed that it could, for example, simulate situations that affect the streets of the heart of Cordoba, which will allow planning effective responses. “The launch of this virtual replica will contribute in a stable way to predict situations and develop effective measures based on simulations on key issues for coexistence such as mobility,” he stressed.
Technologies
Five cases were implemented to see the uses. Thus, the latest technologies satellite radar equipped with advanced artificial intelligence algorithms to generate early warnings regarding the structural health of buildings.
It will also have an artificial intelligence application for the conservation and protection of heritage, with detailed capture of monuments and historic buildings, preserving their current state for future generationsas well as optimizing restoration planning through predictive maintenance.
It will be used on the main roads of Cordoba to identify and recognize elements of the infrastructure (clearances, lanes, identification of potholes and speed bumps) and early detection of anomalies.
The digital twin will include the classification of city elements through a geospatial data system. It will also be used for monitoring, analysis and optimization of tourist influx in patios and monuments, as well as to organize tourist routes.
