Get out your tiger blanket! Recently, the National Meteorological System (SMN) of the National Water Commission (Conagua) reported the arrival of the first cold front in the north of the Mexican Republic, which will generate heavy rains and low temperatures in some states.

Through their daily report, the competent authorities of our country announced that this meteorological event will continue on the northern border of Mexico, generating conditions of intense rain accompanied by electric shocks.

What is a cold front?

Before letting you know the effects that this event generates in the country, it is important to mention that the cold front is the clash between two air masses, one cold and the other warm, which generate the formation of strong storms and the Norte event.

According to the National Civil Protection Coordination, a cold front can last between three and seven days in our national territory.

When did the first cold front of 2024 begin in Mexico?

According to the SMN and the rest of the Mexican authorities, the first cold front of the season began this Saturday, August 31, so in the next few days there could be rain, showers and strong gusts of wind in various parts of the Mexican Republic.

In the daily weather forecast report in Mexico, the National Meteorological Service reported that the first cold front in interaction with the Mexican monsoon and other events will leave intense rains and possible hail in the states of the northwest, north and northeast of Mexico.

Likewise, rains, showers and strong gusts of wind are expected in Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.

Regarding the impacts that the first cold front of the year could leave in Mexico City (CDMX) and the State of Mexico (Edomex), it was noted that partly cloudy skies, a mild and cold environment in the morning, as well as heavy rains towards the afternoon of that day are expected.

However, it is important to mention that it was not specified whether these weather conditions were due to the arrival of the first cold front of the season in the north of the Mexican Republic.
