The team of Spain was wrecked last week in the Davis Cupwith elimination before Holland in the quarter-finals – first round of the final phase which was played in Malaga – which also meant the now definitive retirement of Rafa Nadal. The disappointment was total in Spanish tennis, but that does not mean that the Spanish delegation took a lot of money to participate in the Davis Cup, notably Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.
Italy were ultimately champions of the tournament, with a Jannik sinner spectacular, but that does not mean that Spain did not earn a lot of money for its participation in the final phase of the 2024 Davis Cup, hosted in Malaga. Spain has fallen Holland in the quarterfinals after Nadal lost his match and Alcaraz and Granollers the doubles duel.
Despite this, Spain gained good fortune from its participation in the Davis. Almost a million dollars. Specifically, $996,428which, translated into euros, amounts to around 950,000 euros. This amount, which corresponds to the total of the Spanish delegation, and not what Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz earned individually, is divided into two parts.
On the one hand, a little more than $535,000 for simple participation in the final phase of the Davis Cup. As such, this money corresponds to elimination in the quarter-finals. And on the other hand, there is the $412,500 that was given to each delegation (each team) to qualify for the final phase of the Davis Cup.
Thus, the Spanish team added that nearly a million dollars in his participation in the tournament which Italy ended up winning. The champion added $2,678,571, while runners-up Netherlands took home $1,607,143.
The Spanish delegation to the Davis Cup was made up of Carlos Alcaraz, Rafa Nadal, Pedro Martinez, Roberto Bautista and Marcel Granollers. The captain is David Ferrer.
