To determine which is the richest municipality in the archipelago, two data sources can be used. On the one hand, the Tax agency which published at the beginning of October the statistics of income tax filers by municipalities with more than 1,000 inhabitants and positions them according to their average gross income. On the other hand, the data from INE which allow us to know the average annual income per capita in municipalities with more than 2,000 inhabitants. The data corresponding to the year 2022 appears in the two documents, the latest available.
The richest municipality in the Canary Islands is located in the province of Las Palmas and east Santa Brígida. Both indicators place it as the municipality with the highest income.
According to INE data, Santa Brígida records a average annual income per person of 17,702 euros. Concerning the data provided by the Treasury, The average gross income amounts to 40,713 euros per year. In this way, Santa Brígida is at higher income levels than the cities that serve as provincial capitals.

If we look at the INE data (populations of more than 2,000 inhabitants), the poorest municipality is La Oliva (Tenerife) with an average income of 8,512 euros per person per year.
To put the data in context, and according to the INE, the richest municipality in Spain, that is, the one with the highest average gross income (Pozuelo de Alarcón) reaches 85,323 euros. In the poorest city, Huesa (Jaén), the average gross annual income is 13,658 euros.
