THE income distribution in Spain It’s not produced in the same way. This is shown by the latest data published by both the Tax Agency and the INE. The average income received by each resident may vary depending on their place of residence and the predominant sectors in their territory or their employment.

According to this data, the richest municipalities in Spain are Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid), Matadepera (Barcelona) and Boadilla del Monte (Madrid), while the poorest are Huesa (Jaén), Iznalloz (Granada) and El Palmar from Troya (Seville).

Between one and the other, there are intermediate data in which, for example, the different municipalities of Galicia are located.

The richest municipality in Galicia is in La Coruña

To determine which is the richest municipality in the community, two data sources can be used. On the one hand, the Tax agency which published at the beginning of October the statistics of income tax filers by municipalities with more than 1,000 inhabitants and positions them according to their average gross income. On the other hand, there are INE data which allow us to know the average annual net income per capita in municipalities with more than 2,000 inhabitants. The data corresponding to the year 2022 appears in the two documents, the latest available.

He richest municipality in Galicia is located in the province from A Coruña and is Oleiros. Both indicators place it as the municipality with the highest income.

According to data from INE, Oleiros records an average net income per person of 18,504 euros. Regarding the data provided Tax authoritiesthe average gross income of the municipality amounts to 43,433 euros per year. In this way, Oleiros is at even higher income levels than the capital of its province.

To put the data in context, and according to the INE, the richest municipality in Spain, that is, the one with the highest average gross income (Pozuelo de Alarcón) reaches 85,323 euros. In the poorest city, Huesa (Jaén), the average gross annual income is 13,658 euros.
