Squatting is once again at the centre of debate in the Congress of Deputies. During the plenary session this Wednesday, Vox MP Carlos Hernández Quero defended his party’s proposal of reform the housing lawclaiming that the occupancy rate is one of the main causes of the problems in the real estate market.
The branch minister, Isabelle Rodriguezresponded forcefully to the party’s deputy Santiago Abascal with the data on the complaints of illegal occupation.
“Squatting crimes have decreased by about 9 percent last year in our country, and Illegal occupation affects less than 0.06% of housing“Your task is to scare people so that some people make money and you seek this electoral interest,” replied Isabel Rodríguez.
