This weekend, Muez becomes the capital of “bertsolaritza”

This Sunday, September 8, the Navarrese city of Moult It will become the world capital of “Bertso”.

Following the success achieved in previous years by the Bertsolaris Festival In Lands of Iranzuinside Guesalaz Valley Sports Center in MuezThis year we repeat this bertsolaris festival again, paying tribute to women, since most of the protagonists of this festival are women, in one of the most authentic forms of oral expression, Basque culture, sung improvisation of bertsolaris, living oral literature. which today enjoys great social prestige.

The main protagonists of this festival are 5 bertsolaris champions, Maialen Lujanbio by Hernani, Nerea Ibarzabal, from Marquina, Andoni Egaña, from Zarauz and Julio Soto Ezkurdia, from Irurre del Valle de Guesalaz. The festival will be directed by Amaia Agirre de Villabona.

Mailaen Lujambio She is one of the best bertsolaris of the moment. Born in Hernani, she has been twice champion of the Bertsolaris Absolute Championship (2009 and 2017). In addition to being a writer, she was the first woman to win the National Bertsolaris Championship. Her victory ended the hegemony of Andoni Egaña, the first winner of the competition with four victories. He has collaborated in the creation of lyrics for different Basque artists such as: Maixa eta Ixiar, Alaitz eta Maider, Anje Duhalde, Mikel Errazkin, Mikel Markez or the group Oskorri.

Nerea Ibarzabal, Born in 1994 in Markina, she is a writer and journalist; and she was champion of Vizcaya in 2021. In September 2022 she published her first novel: Bar Gloria. It is one of the viral verses adopted by the Navarrese group Berri Txarrak.

Andoni Egaña Since the end of the 80s and especially in the 90s, he has been the most prominent representative of bertsolaritza. Graduated in Basque Philology, he is dedicated to artistic creation and, in addition to bertsolaritza, he has distinguished himself as a researcher, theoretician, writer and columnist. It is worth highlighting his contribution to the explanation and socialization of the bertsolaritza creative process. He has participated in numerous experimental projects to combine bertsolaritza with other artistic expressions.

Julio Soto He is one of the best current bertsolaris in Navarre, with five txapelas in the Navarro Bertsolaris Championship and who has reached the semi-finals of the Basque Championship three times. Resident of Gorriti, he works professionally as a bertsolari and as a scriptwriter for the ETB program Ene Kantak.

The festival will be directed by Amaia Agirre de Villabona. Graduated in Basque Philology, bertsolaris teacher and bertsolaris transcriber. She works as an editor for the TV program Hitzetik Hortzera. She is also a member of the Once Virtues initiative.

Admission is free until capacity is reached.
