The Ministry of the Environment, Infrastructure and Territory presented to the public the informative study of the nnew line 12 of Metrovalencia, which will connect the current tram network to the University Hospital of La Fe, as published this Monday in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV).
The new extension of line 10 is part of the Metrovalencia network expansion plan planned by the Generalitat, in collaboration with the Valencia City Council, for the coming years.
This new tramway route offers a sustainable and safe mode of public transport, perfectly integrated into the urban structure of the city. Four Squares District which includes neighborhoods such as Fuente de San Luis, Malilla or Na Rovella, with a population of more than 70,000 inhabitants.
At the same time, it will improve connectivity with the important sports and hospital facilities located in the area of this action and used daily by thousands of people, expanding the communication possibilities of these neighborhoods with the rest of the city, through the network. . of Metrovalence.
The planned route proposes to connect the existing tram line 10, at the access/exit ramp to the Amado Granell – Montolivet station, with the La Fé University Hospitalserving on its route large urban facilities such as the Fonteta sports complex (Fuente de San Luis Pavilion), as well as the Alqueria del Básket and the Roig Arena pavilion; and new residential developments in the Malilla Norte neighborhood.
Line 12 takes advantage of part of the route of the current line 10 and integrates four new stopsThe planned route will run along Hermanos Maristas Avenue, until crossing Ausias March Avenue, to cross the Malilla neighborhood and reach the La Fe Hospital, from Ronda Norte.
The new tram connection, through more than two kilometres of tram platform, will allow an easy connection between the Cercanías de València Nord services and the La Fe Hospital, thanks to pedestrian connections between the stations, since this health centre not only covers a specific area of the city of Valencia, but is also a reference hospital in the province.
The same study indicates that the implementation of the new tramway platform requires a reorganization of public space (traffic lanes, sidewalks, green spaces) and the coexistence between the different modes of transport. The design of the new platform must allow level crossing for vehicles and existing intersections are maintained by implementing new or modified traffic light phases.
The informative study is the transport systems planning instrument that serves as the basis for the public information process and that, after its final approval, will allow the development of the solution finally adopted through the development of the construction project.
Throughout this document, the main attractions and demand generators subject to the expansion of the Metrovalencia network with this line have been identified. In parallel, a territorial characterization and analysis of the existing transport system in the area of action have been carried out, identifying the technical conditions and needs from a transport point of view.
