“Those who have the most are not rewarded, quite the contrary”

Faithful to its firm position in favor of equal regional funding without privileges for any autonomous community, the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Pagerepeated this Saturday from Barcelona his famous “so far” against the singular caupo of Catalonia and attacked once again against these regions which “want to have more than the others”instead of “uniting” the nation.

“This is as far as we can go, I defend that those who have the most pay more,” Page said from the Catalan capital, recalling his the famous “so far” launched last July in an energetic institutional declaration which toured Spain and in which he attacked the privileged financing pact of the PSOE with the ERC.

In a speech given this Saturday at the Casa de Cuenca, where he received the 2024 Quijote Prize from the Communities of Castile-La Mancha in Catalonia, Page reiterated that “Those who have the most are not rewarded, quite the contrary” and demanded the appeal in December of Tax and Financial Policy Council to “agree among all on the distribution” of the collection of the new tax package approved this week by Congress.

Conference of Presidents

Page also announced that will “particularly” raise this issue during the Conference of Presidents to be held in Santander on December 13clearly stating that the distribution of new taxes “must respond to the current, multilateral and shared legal model”, and in no way reward “the territories which have the most”in clear allusion to the Catalan quota.

“It makes no sense,” said the president of Castilla-La Mancha. As we will remember, he Congress approved the transposition of the European directive on Thursday which regulates a minimum rate of 15% for multinationals and a tax package that includes measures such as taxes on banks and vaping devices or an increase in taxes on tobacco.

“If someone wants to tax, for example, those who we all know have more, the banks,Or will it be to give it to the territories which have more, because then I don’t see the logic anywhere, it will be the opposite, right?García-Page asked the question, specifying that this debate is “transcendental”.

No to blackmail

The president of Castilla-La Mancha also considered this idea: “If you want to become Robin Hood with taxes, this obviously has to translate into let it be shared so that we become coherent and we can all aspire to the same benefits, the same services, the same rights.

“We cannot be before permanent transfers and blackmail of small minoritiesthis is not building a country of common sense”, underlined the president of Castilla-La Mancha, from the beginning, one of the most critical voices towards the Catalan “single financing” agreed by the PSC and the ERC.

García-Page emphasized that “no flag can protect any type of privilege” and criticized those who “always want to have more than others”, which “is neither reasonable nor legal”.
