Mike Huckabee, considered a strong supporter of Israel, told the New York Post that the United States should use all its power to pressure Iran and Qatar to release hostages held by Hamas terrorists. He expressed confidence that Donald Trump’s elected administration will pursue a consistent policy toward Israel and its security.
“We have seen the Biden administration pay lip service to Israel, calling the alliance as strong as iron. But there are also contradictory statements, for example about the intention to limit the supply of weapons if Israel does not change its tactics in the Gaza Strip. This is unacceptable,” Huckabee stressed.
Speaking of the hostages, he said: “It is especially painful to observe the deadlock in the negotiations. “I wouldn’t be surprised if a breakthrough is made with Trump’s election, as his position has always been clear and consistent.”
Huckabee, who has visited Israel on several occasions, stressed that the country fights for its existence in the face of constant threats. In his opinion, expanding cooperation with Arab countries in the region and strengthening the Abraham Accords are the key to stability in the Middle East.
“There is no reason why Israel cannot build new alliances with Arab partners. The real threat in the region is the Iranian regime, which represents a danger not only to Israel but also to its Arab neighbors,” Huckabee said.
He also warned against underestimating the Iranian threat, recalling Tehran’s rhetoric calling Israel the “little devil” and the United States the “big devil.” “Iran will never stop with Israel. This will only be the first step of your strategy,” he emphasized.
Huckabee said he hopes the new US administration will continue to strengthen the alliance with Israel and counter threats posed by Iran to protect the interests of the United States and its allies in the Middle East.
