Three people arrested for transporting 200 kilos of cocaine in suitcases to Barajas airport

Civil Guard agents, stationed in the Tax and Border Unit of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport, managed to intercept 191,246 grams of cocaine hidden in suitcases coming from Colombia and the Dominican Republic. Three people were arrested for this. of Italian and Colombian origin aged 23 to 76, who, for these events, are accused of crimes against public health.

Last Sunday, September 29, the Civil Guard carried out a series of interventions in the baggage claim rooms of the airport, where approximately 200 kilograms of cocaine in five different actions; These operations are part of the missions of the Civil Guard as guarantor of the fiscal protection of the State, with the aim of combating contraband and guaranteeing the security of citizens.

This drug was discovered thanks to the work of the ICARO team (Identification of Abnormal Behaviors and Operational Reactions) in combination with risk analysis techniques carried out by law enforcement. baggage claim rooms in their daily life at Madrid airport, in which they select both passengers and suitcases to carry out more exhaustive tax measurements.

All the cocaine was found in five suitcases, divided into 158 rectangular packages of different weights, measurements and packagingfrom flights from the Dominican Republic and Colombia.
