The National Police arrested three people after a ppolice chase through the Madrid neighborhoods of Usera and Villaverdeduring which there were several shots fired in the air and an attempt to run over a police officer, a spokesman for the Madrid police headquarters informed Europa Press.
The events took place on Saturday night. A camouflaged National Police car stopped a Jaguar vehicle on Corindón Street, in the San Fermín neighborhood, to identify its three occupants. Surprised, instead of stopping, they accelerated their speed and tried to run over one of the officers, who had to fire several shots in the air.
It was then that a police chasesupported by other patrols. The vehicle was intercepted on Eduardo Barreiros Street, already in Villaverde, and then collided with other cars. The three individuals got out of the Jaguar and started running around the area. They were finally arrested.
The driver had a legal appeal against the prison, for crimes of damage, injuries against road safety and attack on officials. The other two were arrested for crimes of assault and disobedience to authority. They are: young people between 24 and 30 years old.
The officer who was nearly knocked down was hit in the hip and elbow. Another police officer was nearly attacked by another of these youths at the time of his arrest. Both were slightly injured, police sources told Europa Press.
