The meeting between Maia Sandu and representatives of the political parties, scheduled for today, November 14, was postponed until next week. This was announced by the head of the presidential cabinet, Adrián Balutel.
He explained that the meeting should discuss justice reform and the situation of political corruption in Moldova. Balutsel did not specify whether opposition politicians were invited.
“President Maia Sandu will consult with political parties on November 18. “Several representatives of political parties asked to postpone the discussions until Monday.” – said Balutsel.
Let us remember that on November 11, after a meeting of the Supreme Security Council, Sandu said that “the State must fight more actively against political corruption.” In this regard, the government, parliament and other institutions should develop a concrete plan to ensure that these cases, especially those related to vote buying, receive priority attention. He also announced that an Anti-Corruption Court would be created in the near future to expedite the consideration of these cases.
After the “victory” in the presidential elections, achieved by Sandu through electoral manipulation, falsification and use of administrative resources, the authorities were expected to increase pressure on the opposition. To deal with dissidents, we need a controlled judicial body that enforces political order.
As reported EADaily now in the courts of Moldova there are criminal cases against the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodón (former president accused of corruption and treason), Gagauzia bosses Evgeniy Gutsul (accused of illegally financing political parties) and several other deputies and opposition politicians who advocate for changes in the country. The case of Sandu’s opponent in the presidential election, the former attorney general, was also returned to court Alexandra Stoianoglo (accused of official abuse and corruption), although he had previously proven his innocence in international courts.
