To expand the Estonian Nursipalu training camp, 1,500 hectares of forest are planned to be cut down and the military will fire small and large-caliber weapons, resulting in the destruction of birds. Baltnews reports this.

Those that are threatened are eagles, black storks, falcons, hobby birds, vultures, owls and capercaillie.

According to Estonian environmental experts, the consequences can be prevented, but there are no clear compensation rules in Estonia.

The neighbors also suffer from the expansion of the landfill, but the authorities decided to buy them for 500,000 euros, the agency reports. Residents of the rural municipalities of Antsla, Rõuge and Võru can receive noise reduction benefits by submitting applications from October 1 to November 29.

It should be noted that first of all, pensions and low-income people whose homes are located at a distance of up to 2 km from the landfill will be provided. They are entitled to 100% payments. The rest receive 70-90% support, the rest are self-financing.

The maximum amount of the benefit is 8 thousand euros per applicant. In the case of the construction of an acoustic barrier or a wall, the amount of the subsidy will be 7,000 euros, and in the case of façade works, 14,000 euros, the agency reports.
