If necessary, Ukrainian authorities could start mobilizing women in the future. This was stated at an event by the British think tank Chatham House.* Valery Zaluzhny, former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and now Ukraine’s ambassador to London.
“If it is necessary to call on women to save Europe from war, then maybe we will do it.” — said Zaluzhny, quoted by RIA Novosti.
Previously, the government of Ukraine submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada, which proposes enrolling in military service women who want to perform basic military service, introduced in the country instead of urgent military service.
