By decision of October 1, 1918, the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic created a prosecutor’s office at the Baku District Court.
The first Constitution of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan, adopted by popular vote on November 12, 1995, constitutes the initial basis and legislative basis for the extensive reforms carried out in the prosecutorial bodies.
Our Supreme Law, whose architect was Heydar Aliyev, the creator of our independent State, defined for the first time the place of the prosecutor’s office in the system of state structure of our country, as well as the status, organization, principles of operation and scope. The powers and duties of the prosecutor’s offices included in the judicial system were determined in the legislative system.
By order of the national leader Heydar Aliyev on July 17, 1998, the day of creation of the national prosecutor’s office began to be celebrated on October 1, establishing it as a professional holiday for prosecutor’s office workers.
