Tokayev: “We will finish laying the fiber optic cable line under the Caspian Sea in 2025”

“The project to lay a fibre optic cable across the bottom of the Caspian Sea will be completed in 2025.

Oku.Az This was stated by President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev, speaking to Tengrinews during a joint session of the parliamentary chambers.

“This is extremely important for our country in terms of creating digital infrastructure related to international corridors and cross-border data flows. In general, we need to continue the active development of telecommunication networks and data centers, apply global cybersecurity standards and increase the competence of our specialists,” he said.

It should be noted that the Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Cable Line project is a project to lay high-speed fiber optic cable lines between Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries across the bottom of the Caspian Sea.

The aim of the project is to form a Digital Silk Road between Europe and Asia via Azerbaijan, which will enable large-scale data transmission across the Caspian Sea bed.

The length of the optical line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea will be 370 kilometers. Investments by communication operators from Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are estimated at more than 23 billion tenge (50.6 million dollars).
