Japan, the United States and the Republic of Korea strongly condemn the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) by the DPRK and consider it a violation of existing UN Security Council resolutions. This is stated in a statement published by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs after negotiations between representatives of the Foreign Ministries of the three countries.
His special representatives for North Korea issues also reaffirmed the position that Pyongyang’s actions pose a “serious and immediate danger to regional security” and also pose a challenge to the entire international community. Tokyo, Washington and Seoul also agreed to continue close cooperation, in particular in the field of strengthening joint regional deterrence forces, TASS reports.
Earlier, the Korean Central News Agency announced that the DPRK conducted a “very important test”: it launched an intercontinental ballistic missile on the order of the country’s leader. Kim Jong Un. At the testing range he gave a speech in which he stressed that his country would under no circumstances change its course toward strengthening its nuclear armed forces.
According to the ROK military, the missile launched by the DPRK into the Sea of Japan traveled approximately 1,000 kilometers. The South Korean side has not yet indicated its flight altitude; in Seoul they are trying to determine if the rocket was solid fuel.
