Toledo celebrates European Day of Jewish Culture this Sunday with free guided tours

The city councilor for tourism, housing and relations with UCLM, José Manuel Velasco, presented a new edition of the European Day of Jewish Culture, which It has been celebrated simultaneously for 25 years in 37 countries on the initiative of the Council of Europe, and which arrives in Toledo this Sunday with free guided tours.

The aim is to raise awareness of the importance of Jewish heritage and legacy in our city, which also, in the words of the mayor, “This is one of our great tourist potentials.“.

In this sense, Velasco announced that the month of Jewish culture would also be announced soon, since Toledo belongs with 21 other cities to the Network of Jewish Neighborhoods of Spain.

For all these reasons, next Sunday, September 1, an open day will take place at the Sephardic Museum between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., reports the Consistory in a press release.

In addition, At 11:30 a.m., visit the Jewish quarter and the synagogues, “For all those who want to know a little more about this part of the city,” the mayor stressed.

Finally, to celebrate this day, between noon and 4 p.m., free guided tours of the “Guardians of the Jewish Quarter of Toledo” will take place.

An activity to do as a family, in keeping with the motto of the day “A big family”, in which all participants will receive a guide to complete the route with several tests and questions that they will have to answer to obtain the certificate that accredits them as “guardians of the Jewish quarter”, which It will bring you closer to the historical figures of the city El Greco, or Alfonso X.

The activities are free, but it will be necessary to register in advance on the Toledo City Council Tourism website. The number of participants will be a maximum of 25 people per activity and will last approximately 2 hours.
