The Toledo Chamber of Commerce has officially announced its decision to resign from its status as a member of the board of directors of the Talavera Fair Foundation, in accordance with the agreement adopted by its Executive Committee, after having expressed its concern about the management of this body.
In a letter addressed to the mayor of Talavera de la Reina,Jose Julian Gregorio Lopezas of this Wednesday, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Maria de los Angeles Martínez, indicated that, having received no response to the requests made in his letter of August 29, the resignation will become effective in the coming days, in accordance with the requirements set out in the statutes of the Foundation.
This decision comes “after months of discussions with the City Council, during which the Chamber expressed its concern about the management of the Foundation, the results obtained and the direction it is taking under the current leadership of the Board of Directors,” as reported by the Chamber in a press release.
From the Chamber of Commerce They consider that this line of action is far from the interests of the Foundation and, above all, “it negatively affects the city of Talavera, which should be the main beneficiary of this institution.”
Likewise, the Chamber of Commerce formalized the denunciation of the agreement signed with the Talavera Ferial Foundation on December 28, 2016, as stipulated in its fourth clause.
The Speaker of the House expressed her regret at the need to take these measures, stressing thatThe decision was motivated by disagreement with recent decisions of the current management of the Foundation.
Despite this, the Chamber reiterated its willingness to continue collaborating with the City Council of Talavera de la Reina to promote economic progress and the competitiveness of local and regional businesses.
