The mayor of Toledo, Carlos Velázquez, had the honor of visiting his home María Martín Martín, 103 years oldperhaps the oldest woman in the city. He was born on September 7, 1921, so it was only two days ago that he blew out his birthday candles. As the photo shows, she received a bouquet of flowers at her home in the historic center, in the heart of Santo Tomé district.

“It was very moving to visit Maria today, a dear neighbor from Toledo who is celebrating her 103rd birthday. An endearing meeting, full of stories and experiences told with great clarity, which left their mark not only his life, but also the history of our city“, specifies the mayor on his Facebook profile.

Carlos Velázquez ends by saying: “103 years of Toledo history through their eyes. Congratulations, Maria! And thank you for sharing so much with us today.” Among the comments on the mayor’s message, there is one that thanks him for visiting Maria, who he says is the longest-lived woman in the city.A nice gesture from you to the oldest person in Toledo.“She and her daughter were very excited that you were going to congratulate her.” And another said, “You made her very happy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
