“During the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), some streets and avenues will be changed to optimize traffic in Baku.”
This was reported by Namidan Piriyev, head of the Center for Intelligent Transport Management of the Ministry of the Interior (MIA), during the presentation of the transport plan that will be implemented within the framework of the COP29 events.
He said that vehicles entering the city from the 14th kilometer of the Baku-Salyan highway will be directed to the Baku Outer Ring Road from the checkpoint to be set up near the Lokbatan circle in the direction of Shikhov. The pass to Badamdar will be open, while access to areas known as Yasamal and “Shamakhinka” will be allowed only at certain intervals. The main traffic flow will be directed to Bilajari, the bus station and Sumgait. Vehicles coming from Shamakhi-Ismayilli will be able to circulate in the direction of “Shamakhinka” and Ziya Bunyadov Avenue with relative restrictions from the checkpoints on the Mushfiq-Khocasan highway. Vehicles traveling in the Guba-Sumgait direction will be released intermittently from the post located next to the gas station at the entrance to Sumgait City. Vehicles coming from the Sumgayit-Novkhani direction will be able to pass through the checkpoint on the Binagadi-Baksol highway intermittently.
“These stations will be organized as entry points to Baku,” said N. Piriyev.
According to him, the direction of traffic on some streets and avenues in the city has been changed: “Drivers going from the center to the airport should go directly from Nizami Street to Yusif Safarov Street, and from there to Izzet Orujov Street , turn right to Fazail Bayramov Street and turn left towards 8 Noyabr Avenue, and also towards Zıgh Street. Drivers who wish to travel in the direction of Sabunchu-Zabrat via Heydar Aliyev Avenue, pass through. Bashir Bunyadov, Yavar Aliyev and Asif Asadullayev streets on the right. Go to Sabunchu-Zabrat and they will know.
Vehicles heading towards the center from Koroglu Rahimov and Khatai Demirchizade streets may turn right onto Yusif Safarov and 10 Zavod streets, pass through Aladdin Guliyev Street behind the Baku City Police Department and exit through the Dilara Aliyeva and Rashid Behbudov streets.
” Drivers coming in the direction of the airport will cross the Zigh Highway to Noyabr Avenue 8. They will travel through Afiyaddin Jalilov, Fazail Bayramov and Mehdi Mehdizade Streets. Drivers arriving in the city from the Sabunchu district will be able to cross the airport. Binagadi area and head towards the center of the capital.”
