Train carrying dangerous goods derails in Matillas, Guadalajara

A train of dangerous goods derailed this Thursday while crossing the town of Matillas in Guadalajara, which caused the road to be cut off, although there was no leak of the liquids transported.

The Castile-La Mancha emergency service 112 explained that it received an alert call around 6:20 a.m. in which it reported that a train carrying dangerous liquid goods went off the rails and that due to the derailment, the track on this railway section had to be cut.

These same sources specified that there was no liquid leak and that, although it was moved to the location an ambulance as a preventive measure, This was ultimately not necessary as no injuries were recorded.

Additionally, the GU-157 had to be cut due to the presence of debris from the derailment on the road. The Civil Guard and the Sigüenza firefighters also went to the site and checked that there was no leak of dangerous goods, responsible for Adif and road maintenance.

For this reason, an alternative transport plan was established with road transfers between Jadraque and Sigüenza.
