Train traffic in Burgos interrupted due to fire from tree that fell on tracks

The Administrator of Railway Infrastructure (Adif) interrupted this Saturday afternoon, August 31, traffic between the stations of Burgos-Rosa Manzano and Quintanapalla due to the fire of a tree that fell on the tracks.

As reported by Adif through its citizen service information account on the state of infrastructure and rail traffic in the network, the fire occurred on a tree that fell on the two tracks.

An event that occurred due to the strong storm that hit this afternoon and left 30 liters per square meter in some places. Reason why the train traffic at the station had to be interrupted.

At present, Adif is waiting to establish an alternative road transport plan for long and medium distance trains departing from or arriving at Burgos.

The intense storms recorded throughout the day in the eastern half of Castilla y León left more than 30 liters per square meter in some parts of the province of Burgos. Specifically, according to data from the National Meteorological Agency (Aemet), 35 liters had accumulated at Burgos airport until 5:40 p.m., while 30.6 liters were recorded in Villamayor de los Montes.

In addition, according to sources from the 1-1-2 emergency service of Castilla y León, between 4 and 5 p.m., more than twenty alerts for floods and water leaks were dealt with in the capital Burgos.

In fact, the Burgos City Council itself has reported, through its official account on the social network X, the existence of more than thirty incidents that affect garages, basements and premises. For this reason, the city’s firefighters are intervening in more than 20 neighborhoods of the city. In addition, the Burgos Music Run Night, scheduled for tonight, has been suspended due to the impact of the storm.

Rainfall also fell heavily in the Segovian municipality of Fresno de Cantespino, where 20 litres per square metre accumulated, as well as in the towns of Burgos, Villadiego (17.4 litres) and Pedrosa del Príncipe (14.6 litres); in the Sorianas of Morón de Almazán and Arcos de Jalón, where 10.6 litres were recorded, and in the province of Valladolid of Fuente el Sol (8.8 litres).

Regarding temperatures, the highest were recorded in Candeleda (Ávila), with 34.6 degrees, ahead of Miranda de Ebro (Burgos), with 31.5 degrees and Saelices El Chico (Salamanca), where the thermometers They rose to 31.1 degrees.
