A student intern has died and his flight instructor was seriously injured crash a training plane in agricultural land located north of the town of Abia de las Torres (Palencia).
The Emergency Coordination Center of the Government of Castilla y León has started the operation at 10:30 a.m. this Wednesday, when calls from Burgos airport and the Air Search and Rescue Service (SAR) of the Air Force reported the disappearance of a training plane that had left Burgos airport, according to data from the Castilla y León Emergency Service 112.
The searches were planned between the surroundings of the city of Osorno in Palencia and the border with the province of Burgos, around kilometer 106 of the A-231 highway.
112 informed the Civil Guard of Palencia and Burgos, the Fire Brigade of the Provincial Council of Palencia and the Emergency Coordination Centre (CCU) of Health Emergencies, Sacyl, of this air accident, from which a basic life support ambulance was activated. For its part, the emergency coordination centre sent the rescue helicopter of the Junta de Castilla y León to the scene; and the SAR, another of its helicopters.
After a few minutes of searching upon arrival at the area, the rescue helicopter of the Junta de Castilla y León located the crashed plane. in a farm next to the Valdavia riverapproximately 600 meters north of the town of Abia de las Torres.
One of its occupants was dead and the other seriously injured, so the health emergency services activated a medical helicopter and primary care personnel from the Osorno Health Center.
The deceased is a student in training the Burgos flight school, the FlyBy Aviation Academy, according to the newspaper Burgos Conecta. The seriously injured person is the academy’s flight instructor.
