From the start of the service, alternative bus transport will operate five stops Altea, Garganes, Cap Negret, Olla Altea and Calpe. The stops have been installed next to the five stations concerned on this section.

This interruption of the rail service is a continuation of that which affected the Olla Altea-Calpe section and which was instituted following the emergency works which have been carried out in recent months to deal with the consequences of the fire which occurred last January in the Mascarat area, crossed by this line.

From October, the rail shutdown will be extended until Teulada and, in a final phase, before the completion of the works in December, the modification of the service will affect the Garganes-Calpe section.

Once the renovation work on the viaducts has been completed Algar and MascaratThe modern diesel-electric propulsion units of the 5000 series will be able to run on line 9 of the TRAM of Alicante (Benidorm-Denia), thus avoiding passengers the transfer that currently takes place in Calpe.

emergency works

The emergency works have corrected the deficiencies caused in the railway infrastructure and its surroundings by the forest fire of January 6. Since last April, measures have been taken to mitigate potential geological risks; the reconstruction of a dike and drainage infrastructure; and the reduction of erosion on slopes and embankments near the road alignment.

The actions were carried out on almost three kilometres of railway line and benefited from a budget of three million euros, VAT included.
