Transcarpathian residents rescued captured UOC priests from TCC – EADaily, September 22, 2024 – Politics News, Ukraine News

Under pressure from believers, employees of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in Khust released two priests of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church and forced them to report to the military registration and enlistment office. This was announced by Verkhovna Rada deputy Artem Dmitruk, who represents the interests of the UOC.

“ABOUT Vasily and Fr. Stepan is free! Thank you to all believers, to all the inhabitants of Khust and the village of Iza who participated in the liberation of the priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Today we have shown that we can unite for the sake of our clergy and for the sake of other members of the Church.” — Dmitruk writes on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the priests’ phones and documents were returned.

“The TCC gave Father Stepan, who is a cleric of the Odessa diocese, 3 days to leave the Transcarpathian region, and also ordered him to report to the TCC in Odessa after 3 days. O. Vasily was ordered to report to the TCC in Khust exactly in a month… I would also like to ask all Ukrainians to pay attention to this case. When we unite, the fascists will not be able to defeat us! And this case is the most revealing one!” the deputy summed up.
