Something disassembled lies in an authoritative way in which the lectures of Wolfgang Vendland lectures on his visions. “I think that areas of work and concern for the population should be divided into parts,” he says at the request of “the final and complete humiliation of humanity” and “Germany’s Balkanization”.
This is 2005, and the Anarchist Party of Germany only made the singer of the legendary punk group with cashiers with his candidate for the Bundestag elections at that time. And since broadcasting institutions were forced to radiate the impossible pottery of the satirical party by order of the court, the then 43-year-old Bochum is now sitting opposite the terrible television speaker who is fighting for the version.
“Balkanization, buzzing, never work again, Appd!”, Wendland pseudonym Wölfi calls in the middle of the wild orgy of drunkards to the camera – selective advertising reaches the status of culture, even if Vendland does not go to the chancelliy at the end.
“I think this is tasteless,” says the moderator about the television place and punishes the candidate for the chancellor with a despicable look. He giggles in himself 20 years later and says: “When we turned it over, I not only lie on the floor inside, but also out of the outside of laughter.” He knew that the place would work and stand out. You cannot expect more in 90 seconds.
Does the era end?
Today Wolfgang Wendland is 62 years old. He did not work with the chancellor, but recently caused a feeling with hints about the desire to leave cashiers over the next two years. The group exists for 40 years, this is a device in the German musical landscape. The time to visit Bochum Wattenscheid, the singer’s house, where he, a welcome reason for the portrait, also took part in the podium last weekend as part of the TAZ Panter award ceremony.
With such hits as “the worst, when the beer is all” or “sex with a social worker”, the cashiers wrote the history of music. Leaving the singer, the era came to an end that she became far beyond the borders of punk scenes.
“I became only a singer, because it was the most absurd idea that I will sing in the group,” says Wendland. The basis of the group in the mid -1980s, his brother Volker and Mitch Maestro were a coincidence. “We wanted to make a concert with friendly groups and thought that it would have fun to declare people in the cash register as a group.” Later, the concert was prohibited by the regulatory body, but the beginning of one of the most influential groups in the genre was made.
“I am the most successful rapper Wattenscheid Part -care,” Vendland says and completely serious. Almost shyly, he interacts into the corner of his apartment, where there is almost imperceptibly gold recording. She is a gift from the satirical Berlin Rüpelrapper Kiz, which he supported as an invited singer several years ago. He also produced songs with a gait made of antelope and 257ers, and in fact it should be out of competition when it comes to popularity in the hip-hop scene Wattenscheider.
Beer is the same performances
Live on stage It may be felt from the modesty that he exudes when talking with a pelvis. His trademark is a speech related to beer, in which he sometimes or with joy allows the covers to fall. His appearance on the ProSieben show “Circus Halligalli” 2013 is unforgettable in which he performed completely naked in front of Lena Meyer Landra, moderators of Joko and Klaas and a television audience.
Even with other performances, many bare skin are often part of it, not creating the impression that the limit is really exceeded here. It is also part of the secret of the success of the cashiers: they are refreshingly futile, subtle subversive performances that turn the group’s accidentally founded project into a common work of art.
There is another side of Wolfgang Wendland, and sometimes it is so seriously, almost state, supporting that you have difficulties with unification with the basic arithmetic of punk culture. Because in addition to his candidate for the Appd Chancellor, he has already tried a real policy. In 2015, he worked as independence in the office of the mayor of his hometown of Bochum and reached 7.91 percent, which was enough for fourth place.
With some of his political views, he sometimes causes irritation among many of his followers. In April 2023, he called for protest against the closure of nuclear power plants. He said that the Rurbaron blog, that the switching of nuclear power plants was disappeared by both the power supply and the stability of the network in Germany. “I hope that politics will again deal with the consequences of these decisions, and that possible disaster scenarios will not be hidden. In the last winter, this may become unprepared. ”
Does he still see it today? “It was, of course, too anxiety,” he answers.
There is no prey of romanticism
In childhood, Wolfgang Wendland grew opposite Laerin Zecch, former coal mining in Bochum. And, unlike many other regions of the Ruhra, he could not do anything with mining romanticism, he says: “If you live in a child in a colleague, nuclear energy can be progressive.”
After the end of the booty, structurally weak wasteland became the district of the Ruors. The economy collapsed, there was not enough labor and prospects, large companies closed their work. In 2008, the Nokia plant was closed, on which 2300 permanent workers and 800 temporary workers worked. The great Opel plant was closed in 2014.
In 1996, the Austrian pop -legenda Falco erected a monument with a “mother, man with a brive” – and her own consumption of cocaine in style. Wolfgang Wendland, however, cannot get such a novel. Grandfather was a miner, but already died of silicosis in 1950. This is a dusty disease in which in an organ stuck in the involved quartz dust.
Wendland led his own life path to the academic world before his career as a cashier. “I studied pedagogy, philosophy and politics, but without a degree,” he says. At some point, North Rhine-Westphalia was also proposed, theatrical and television sciences were also proposed, and he completed basic research. He also ended briefly in Berlin. “I lived there for six months and studied business administration at a free university,” he says. But because of the problems, to find an apartment and work, he was returned to Bochum.
How much turning in cashiers?
Other group comrades also made an academic career. Wolfgang Wendland’s brother, Walker, studied popular music with an accent to jazz, guitarist Nikoodge Hagermeister Aspirant and Teacher Tai-Chi. The musical style of the cashiers is also wide and goes beyond the classic punk: the music includes elements of other styles, such as folk music, Chanson, Jazz and much more.
How much will the satirical works of the cashier will overthrow? “It’s hard to say,” Vendland replies. “In our songs we are dealing with spirits, but this happens quite subconsciously.”
Many years ago, around 2006, he conducted a campaign for an independent cultural center in Wattencheid, based on a model of self -leaded youth centers in the 1970s. This should be counteracting the care institutions controlled by local policy.
“Such a song as” Sex with a social worker “was created in the idea that people in such institutions can torture their social workers and free themselves from it.” Nevertheless, he could never realize his plans for a self -governing center. Wendland also decided to join the local policy from a disappointment with the stubbornness of political processes: from 2009 to 2014, he did not participate in the non -Apartia in Vattentshcheid. Nevertheless, its options for actions would be limited by the protection against financial removal.
Intermezzo with SPD
Can he imagine again in politics after his time with the cashiers? Wendland should think briefly. “The policy is very tiring,” he says after the break. In 2018, he entered the SPD. “I wanted to do something with the division of society and thought that it was working, strengthening the political center.” Nevertheless, he no longer received current proposals from politics.
This can not be a question. When he was asked how he relaxes in his free time, he spontaneously remembered anything. “In some way I do not relax, I find so interesting that I am constantly sitting in front of the computer and watching messages.”
