The mayor of Trelew, Gerardo Merino, participated this Saturday in the provincial instance of the Science and Technology Fair. “A society grows with education,” the municipal president told the young people attending the exhibition, which took place at school No. 751.
The head of the local Executive was accompanied by the Minister of Education, José Luis Punta, whom he publicly thanked for his interest in promoting these spaces of academic knowledge.
“I feel honored that (the fair) is being held in our city; I want to congratulate and welcome all those who came from different parts of the province. The protagonists are you,” said the mayor, under the attentive gaze of the young people.
He stressed: “Returning to the words of the minister (of Education, José Luis Punta), I understand that education for provincial and municipal governments, with children in schools, combined with knowledge, technology and science, is important.”
Merino regretted that the fair did not take place last year. However, “today we are here, sharing and competing; which demonstrates that there are state policies that promote, care and advance education.
The theme chosen by students in most of the stands deserved a separate paragraph. “I observed a great interest in natural resources, energy and the problems we face today and that come from the future,” he said.
At the end, the mayor stressed: “You guys, it is important that you learn about certain subjects, because there will be no society that develops and grows without education, science and technology.”
